The Blanche Point vineyard was established in 1995, the birth year of James Scarpantoni. Now 24 years old, James produces a range of bespoke wines that express the terroir temperate coastal climate of this unique vineyard.
These slow growing vines produce intense small bunches as they struggle to grow amongst limestone rocks. Optimum positioning of the vine rows sloping to the North East protects the vineyard from the prevailing strong South Westerly winds which flow across the Southern Ocean.
Careful consideration of soil type and climate resulted in the selection of specific ratios of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that are blended together each vintage to produce this wine.
The resulting wine, with black and violet hues and a tight, ripe, tannin palate, exhibits intense blackberry and blackcurrant fruit with the characters of talc, unique to the small, atypical vineyard.
